The results are in and it’s Jose Fonte who has won your vote as the Dell Boys Reader’s Player of the Year – and by a landslide majority too.
Fonte, not only won the Dell Boys Player of the Season but also the official SFC Player’s Player and Fans’ Player of the Season.
The Saints skipper recieved 52% of the votes – his nearest competitor, Morgan Schneiderlin, received just 10% in comparison. Ryan Bertrand was third in the list receiving 9%.
With Fonte only missing one game all season and Southampton currently holding the joint best defensive record for goals conceded in the Premier League it is easy to see why the centre half has seen such overwhelming support.
The 29-year-old’s quality performances earned him a call up to the Portuguese national team.
