Lloyd Isgrove has signed a two-year contract extension at Saints keeping him at the club until 2017.
Isgrove was in and around the first team during pre-season and early weeks of the Premier League, making four appearances, including the curtain raiser at Anfield.
His only start came against Millwall in the Capital One Cup victory before appearing as a substitute in the later rounds of the competition against Sheffield United and Ipwsich Town.
Injury set the winger back in December but since his return he has shone in the Under-21s season helping them to the U21 Premier League Cup Final and scoring against Liverpool on Monday night in a 2-0 victory.
Speaking to saintsfc.co.uk the 22 year-old was pleased with the security offered by a two-year extension.
“It’s a bit of security. I’m 22 now so obviously this takes me to 24. It won’t stop me working hard and pushing in training. That’s a good age to be playing at a high level.
“It shows that they believe in my abilities. They want me on a two-year instead of doing the one-years that I’ve previously done before, which is only positive for me.
“It’s probably the biggest two years of my career so far. If I can get a run of games and stuff, I can really push on and really establish myself as a professional player.”
