After suffering a painful defeat to West Brom at the weekend, it wasn’t just Saints hopes for Europe that appeared damaged.
Saints suffered another defeat this weekend after conceding a consecutive early goal when Sadio Berhanio stuck the back of Fraser Forsters net with a flush volley.
The south-coast side dropped down to sixth place at the end of the weekend and it wasn’t just their Champions League hopes that were broken.
A pipe burst at the Hawthorns forcing the players to have cold showers.
Shane Long, who returned from injury for the first time, spoke to the Daily Echo after the defeat:
“We were down and out anyway after the game.”
“We were disappointed with not winning, going into the palace game.”
“I didn’t mind the cold showers.”
Now, Southampton will be looking to bounce back and beat Crystal Palace tomorrow – who’s last victory saw former Saints boss Alan Pardew return to St. Mary’s with a win in the FA Cup winning 3-2.
Saints front man Graziano Pelle, who started the season so positively, has been struggled to find the back of the net in recent weeks and will be hoping to end his barren run in front of the South Coast faithful tomorrow.
