Newcastle to tempt Koeman to their management team

Premier League rivals look set once more to swoop for Saints’ latest impressive managerial asset, but this time eyed up by a club of a lesser reputation than Spurs.

An optimistic eyeing-up of Koeman has come about all too quickly following Newcastle’s Chiefs uncertainty on Remi Garde despite being welcomed by the visitors to join them on their travels to the Etihad (not that a resounding 5-0 drubbing by City didn’t put their first choice off also).

Neil Moxley reports rumours that Koeman along with promotion pushing Derby County boss – Steve McClaren – have been envisioned by those up north in the hot spot. Both, should they desire the opportunity to take charge of the 11th placed side, will face competition from caretaker John Carver who hopes to extend his stay further than the end of the 2014/15 campaign.

The Toon’s faithful are likely to stand in the way of the easy way out unless a sudden incline in form occurs under Pardew’s assistant and would take much more to breaking the bank in Koeman’s £2m release fee. After all, if he can have a side favoured for relegation in pre-season pushing for Europe then the results at Newcastle would be unthinkable. The utilisation of his contacts across seas would be invaluable to his new interest and certainly compatible with Graham Carr.
