James Ward-Prowse is one of many Southampton FC first team players to have come through their respectable youth system.
The promising central midfielder was born on the 1st November 1994.
Ward-Prowse joined the youth academy at the age of eight and has been with the club ever since coming through with the likes of current teammates Harrison Reed and Matt Targett who have recently stamped their mark on the first team.
He signed his first professional contract in May 2012 and since has become a regular in Southampton’s midfield for the last three seasons.
The England U-21 international recently signed a contract extension keeping at the club until 2020.
The midfielder is thought to be ‘one for the future’ as he has impressed many spectators across the Premier League with his abilities.
Ronald Koeman has featured the young midfielder in his squad for most of the season, which isn’t easy, as Ward-Prowse has to fight for positions against the likes of Morgan Schniederlin, Steven Davis and Victor Wanyama, who are also top quality midfielders.
Ward-Prowse has a great ability to supply his forward with 6 assists this season despite missing some of the season due to a long-term injury but has struggled to find the back of the net himself as he hasn’t scored a goal for the last three seasons.
The ever-improving central midfielder has come close many times this season but has been really unlucky in front of goal.
Southampton are renown for their industrious youth academy as it keeps providing top players such as, Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, Adam Lallana and more recently Luke Shaw.
