Southampton continue to monitor Mohamed Elyounoussi

Southampton are reportedly still monitoring Mohamed Elyounoussi’s progress at FC Basel ahead of a potential summer move.

It’s claimed by ESPN that the Saints remain keen to tie up a deal for the winger, who has been heavily linked with a transfer to the Premier League side in recent times.

Elyounoussi turned in a superb performance on Wednesday night as he helped his Basel side secure a shock Champions League victory away at runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City.

ESPN state that representatives from Saints were in attendance, as the club continue to keep tabs on the Norway international.

Elyounoussi, 23, has been in good form for Basel throughout the course of the campaign. In all competitions, he has found the back of the net on seven occasions and, rather more impressively, contributed with 13 assists.

If Saints are to finally act on their interest in Elyounoussi, they will face competition from elsewhere. It’s claimed that both Arsenal and Leicester are in the same boat, with both sides equally as impressed by the winger’s efforts this term.
