On what was a fairly gloomy afternoon at St Mary’s, Liverpool travelled back up to Merseyside with all three points after a shocking defensively display from Southampton.
Slow to get started and individual defensive errors cost the saints and the defeat leaves them 18th in the Premier League table, while Liverpool are still in the hunt for a place in the top four.
