Celtic have reportedly made the first move in the race to sign Dundee defender Jack Hendry, who has been scouted by Southampton in recent times.
Saints are keen to land the promising defender but according to the Daily Mail, the Scottish champions have opened the bidding with an offer worth £500,000.
Hendry has been in impressive form for Dundee this season and is held in high regard at the club. He is showing promising signs at the back and has caught the eye of several sides across the United Kingdom.

Newcastle and Crystal Palace have both been keenly monitoring his progress, with Saints also said to be holding a serious interest in recruiting the 22-year-old.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is understood to be an admirer of Hendry’s qualities and has been keeping a close eye on him since his side took on Dundee earlier on this season.
Hendry has made 21 starts in the Scottish Premiership.
