Southampton return from the international break on Sunday with a home clash against Newcastle United.
The Saints will be looking to defeat their Premier League counterparts, who sit three places above them in the table. A victory for Mauricio Pellegrino’s men would see them leapfrog Newcastle, but that’s much easier said than done!
The Magpies have proved to be stern competition since their arrival back in the top-flight, picking up 10 points from their opening seven games.
However, St Mary’s is not a happy hunting ground for the Rafa Benitez’s side, who have lost all four games on the South Coast since 2012. The last time Newcastle won at Southampton was a 2-1 win in 2004.
Before the international period, Newcastle managed to hold Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at St James’ Park, while Southampton lost 2-1 at Stoke City. Both sides will be looking to snatch the points, in a winnable affair for both sides.
But where could this game be won or lost for Saints?
