Tomorrow, Southanpton take on Sunderland in the EFL Cup’s round of sixteen.
Southampton have only played one of the previous rounds in this competition, due to their Europa League involvement this season, however Sunderland have had to go through two rounds to get to this stage.
In the second round of the cup, Sunderland hosted Shewsbury, where they eventually won 1-0, with Belgian winger Adnan Januzaj leaving it late to grab the winner.
Sunderland then had a difficult away trip to Championship side Queens Park Rangers and after going 1-0 down in the 60th minute, a Paddy McNair brace secured a 2-1 victory for The Black Cats at Loftus Road.
