Southampton are confident that club captain Jose Fonte will sign a new contract with the club, according to the Daily Echo.
The report says that – although Manchester United and Everton have been linked – there has been no contact with the club over a possible transfer.
Southampton have yet to receive any bids for the experienced central defender, and are determined to keep him at the club this summer.

There is a contract on the table for Fonte, with the club currently negotiating with the skipper over a new deal. They are not aiming to extend his deal, but improve his wages in an attempt to reward him for his services.
Fonte won the European Championships with Portugal this summer, which has led to speculation over his short-term future with Southampton.
However, the Saints are still confident with the situation and expect him to sign a new contract, rather than leave the club.
