Southampton midfielder Jordy Clasie revealed his distaste at being compared to former Saints star Morgan Schneiderlin.
After many successful years on the South Coast, going from League One to the Premier League, Morgan Schneiderlin left the club in the summer to join Manchester United.
This left a huge gap in the Southampton side. Ronald Koeman chose Jordy Clasie to fill it. Signed this summer from Feyenoord, he has been touted as the replacement for the departing Frenchman.
He has only really just got settled into the side following an injury that kept him out of the first few months of the season and talk of him replacing Schneiderlin is still very premature.

Virgil Van Dijk has recently claimed that he thinks Clasie can possibly become better than the current Manchester United star. However, Clasie has played down this talk and is focusing on getting 100% fit, rather than worrying about a player who played in his position before him.
When asked about Van Dijk’s comments, he said this:
No, that’s his opinion.
I’m feeling good but now I’m at 90-85 per cent.
I know I can be better and I work hard for it on the training pitch and also in the gym when I have time to spend on it.
[I’m working on] sharpness on the pitch, but also after the training I spoke a lot with a guy that does the warming up and on the runs.
And I have to do work after the training to run or do something more with the ball.
I know I can, I have to be, fitter than I am now and now I’m 90-85 per cent. Give me a couple of weeks and then I’m 100 per cent.
