Saints striker, Ryan Seager, has been named the first ever Barclays Under-21 Player of the Month.
The forward contributed one goal, a superb curling effort against Chelsea, and one assist in four sterling performances for the Under-21s in February.
The 19 year-old’s form was rewarded by first-team boss, Ronald Koeman, who gave him his Premier League debut, during the month, in Saints’ 1-0 loss to Swansea.
Seager spoke to saintsfc.co.uk on winning the inaugural accolade: “To be chosen for the first ever one feels amazing. It’s down to teamwork that an individual wins an award. If they didn’t pass me the ball I wouldn’t score goals.
“At the start of the season I remember the first game; I was on the bench for the Under-21s and didn’t come on. From then I didn’t want to have that feeling again and I worked even harder.
“Making my Premier League debut was amazing. I’ve been here since I was seven and it was a dream come true. I just want to continue scoring goals and hopefully push on.”
Seager has continued his form into this month as he also grabbed a stellar hat-trick in the Under-21 Premier League Cup Semi Final victory against Derby.
