Southampton turned in a valiant display at Old Trafford as they came away with a hard-earned point against Manchester United.
Saints headed into the game only one point off the drop zone and although they didn’t secure a much-needed win, they produced a positive performance in front of the travelling support.
It was a stark contrast from the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur only days before, with Saints displaying grit, determination and application against Jose Mourinho’s side.
Every Saints player worked for each other and every player came away with credit for a hard-earned point. It’s difficult to single out individuals, but I’m giving our man of the match award to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg once again.

It’s a mystery as to how he wasn’t playing more regularly at the start of the season. He is a superb young player.
Whenever Hojbjerg has started this season, he has arguably been the team’s man of the match. His aggressive style of play is tempered by his composure and intelligence whilst in possession, making for an excellent option in the middle.
Hojbjerg was always available and turned in yet another exceptional display in the heart of midfield. He was the best player on the pitch and controlled the tempo of the game in large parts.
The young Dane has quickly become a pivotal member of this Saints side and is now surely a shoo-in for Pellegrino’s starting line-up in the coming weeks.
