According to today’s printed version of L’Equipe, via Get French Football News, LOSC Lille are growing increasingly concerned regarding the sale of Southampton target Sofiane Boufal.
It’s a well known fact that Boufal’s quality and performances in the past season has earned him a wealth of attention from plenty of top clubs across Europe, with Southampton being heavily linked, but he is still nursing an injury.
Boufal is recovering from a meniscus tear and is set for another minor operation in September; meaning that if Saints or any other potential suitors are to make a move, the Moroccan will not have the benefit of a full pre-season and he will miss the start of the season.
Due to Boufal’s injury, French giants Lille are concerned that interested teams that would be willing to splash on the 22-year-old will look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements due to the fact that waiting on Boufal’s recovery could prove to be too costly and would not be worth the money nor the risk.
Lille are keen to offload Boufal this summer, despite him having a sublime breakthrough season. This is because the French side have come under increased pressure to bring in money due to trying to avoid being punished by the DNCG, who oversee finances for Ligue 1 clubs.
