Saints fans react to Fraser Forster’s likely inclusion for Liverpool clash

A number of Southampton fans have been reacting to the news that goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is set to miss out on the Liverpool game due to having to self-isolate, meaning Fraser Forster will come into the side.

Forster has yet to make an appearance for the Saints so far this season and the former England international has even been linked with a potential move back to Celtic this month. However, the 32-year-old will likely get the chance to feature for Southampton for the first time since the 2018/19 campaign before he was sent out on loan to the Hoops last season.

The ‘keeper managed to record 14 clean sheets in 28 games for Celtic last season (Transfermarkt), but he had been struggling towards the back end of his time as Southampton’s number one.

Speaking to Hampshire Live ahead of the match tonight, Ralph Hasenhuttl revealed that Forster has improved with his footwork over the last few months in training and the manager believes that the stopper is ready to make an impact against the Premier League champions with McCarthy out.
