Southampton fans urge Saints to make move for Demarai Gray

A number of Southampton fans have been urging the Saints to make a move for Leicester City winger Demarai Gray after they were linked with a potential January move for the 24-year-old.

Gray has been frozen out of the first team picture at Leicester so far this season, with Brendan Rodgers having handed him just one appearance in the Carabao Cup. That comes after he managed to make just 21 Premier League appearances last term in which he scored two goals and provided three assists for the Foxes (Sofascore).

The 24-year-old arrived at Leicester with a burgeoning reputation when he made the move from Birmingham City. Gray has shown flashes of his potential during his time with the club and had been a key player for the Foxes until Rodgers arrived as manager.

The winger’s current £55,000-a-week deal runs out at the end of the season and it has been reported that he could be sold in January.

Southampton had been interested in the winger during Claude Puel’s time in charge of the club, and it was reported by 90min.com that they are set to rival Everton and Tottenham in the race to sign him in the January transfer window.

Southampton fans want Demarai Gray

Many Southampton fans feel that this could be a “great” move for the Saints to make in January. Some believe it could prove to be something of a bargain were they able to secure the 24-year-old for a cheap transfer fee.

One even suggested involving Nathan Redmond in a swap deal, with the 26-year-old scoring just once in 10 games so far in a subdued season for him personally.
