# Southampton fans thrilled at reports of potential new deals for Ings and Bertrand

A number of Southampton fans voiced their delight with [reports](https://twitter.com/alex_crook/status/1336654036142067717?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet) that the influential duo of [Danny Ings and Ryan Bertrand](https://readsouthampton.com/2020/12/10/saints-close-in-on-new-deals-for-ings-and-bertrand/) are close to agreeing new deals to commit their futures to the club.

> As I just revealed on [@talkSPORT](https://twitter.com/talkSPORT?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) I understand Danny Ings and Ryan Bertrand are both close to agreeing their new deals with [#SaintsFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/SaintsFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) an early Christmas 🎁

Ings and Bertrand [have been in brilliant form](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/18/Show/England-Southampton) for Southampton so far this season and have been instrumental in the turnaround that Ralph Hasenhuttl has produced to transform the Saints into one of the most in-form teams in the Premier League in 2020.

The form of Ings in particular has been integral to their success, with the striker having netted [22 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/134294) in the Premier League last term. The 28-year-old has already managed six goals in eight appearances this season and has averaged 1.9 shots and 0.9 key passes per game so far for Hasenhuttl’s side ([Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/danny-ings/130181)).

It had been [reported](https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1318088306815533056) that Ings was close to agreeing a new deal a few months ago but that there could be a release clause added to any new contract he potentially signs. It has now emerged that Bertrand is set to join the striker in signing a new deal, with talkSPORT’s Alex Crook [tweeting](https://twitter.com/alex_crook/status/1336654036142067717?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet) that the pair are close to reaching an agreement with the Saints.

### **Southampton fans react to potential new deals for Ings and Bertrand**

Many Southampton fans were left thrilled with the latest update and believe that the pair committing their futures to the club would be “massive news” for them ahead of the January transfer window.

> I hope this is true. I also don't really care how much we're paying Ings. A player of [#saintsfc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/saintsfc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)'s size, especially under the current business model, will not find anyone close to him. If he has any appetite for staying to help us progress under Hasenhüttl, we have to go all in. [https://t.co/mktTyI5zGK](https://t.co/mktTyI5zGK)

> Massive news!!! To have the commitment of [@IngsDanny](https://twitter.com/IngsDanny?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) would be superb…the moment he stepped on to the pitch on Monday we looked a different team…has the potential to reach Ricky and Le Tiss legend levels [#saintsfc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/saintsfc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [https://t.co/VOcFLRcWnk](https://t.co/VOcFLRcWnk)
