# Saints fans share love for Alex McCarthy following Wolves draw

Southampton made it [seven](https://www.skysports.com/southampton-results) games unbeaten in the Premier League on Monday evening after a 1-1 draw with Wolves, and many Saints fans were quick to heap praise on goalkeeper Alex McCarthy for his display at Molineux.

Theo Walcott scored his first Saints goal since [2005](https://www.eurosport.com/football/premier-league/2020-2021/wolverhampton-wanderers-v-southampton-premier-league-live_sto8004474/story.shtml) to open the scoring in the second half before Wolves substitute Pedro Neto rescued a point for the home side. McCarthy ensured the Saints would go home with a share of the spoils with some smart saves.

The 30-year-old made eight saves in total, ending with a [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1485309/Live/England-Premier-League-2020-2021-Wolverhampton-Wanderers-Southampton) rating of 8.00 – the highest score out of all 26 players to feature on Monday night.

The shot-stopper posted on his [official Twitter account](https://twitter.com/Alex_Macca23/status/1331003157250453506) shortly after the final whistle, and these Saints fans were quick to praise the ‘keeper for his “immense” efforts, with one feeling McCarthy should be in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
