# Saints target Husein Balic speaks out on transfer rumours

Southampton, Scottish giants Celtic and Thomas Frank’s Brentford are all thought to have shown an interest in Austrian winger [Husein Balic](https://readsouthampton.com/2020/11/09/southampton-keeping-tabs-on-austrian-winger-husein-balic/) recently, and the 24-year-old has now addressed those rumours ahead of a potential January switch.

Balic, who is [known for his electric pace](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8925507/Southampton-Brentford-chasing-Husein-Balic-one-worlds-fastest-players.html), was asked about the recent transfer reports to the three British sides by [Reprezentacija](https://reprezentacija.ba/313245-balic-o-igranju-za-austriju-nisam-morao-razmisljati-bih-se-nije-ni-javila).

The wide man replied to the rumours, admitting he has also read stories regarding his future in the media.

> I also read it in the media.

> We need to wait and see how much truth there is in all this, that is, how concrete it is.

> But I don’t care much for that. I focus now only on the national team and my club. The work needs to be done in the field in the right way, and the offer will be.

### Read Southampton verdict

Balic currently plies his trade for LASK Linz and is under contract until [2024](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/husein-balic/profil/spieler/241803).

Recent reports have claimed that he could be available for as little as [£2.8m](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8925507/Southampton-Brentford-chasing-Husein-Balic-one-worlds-fastest-players.html) in the January window. If that is the case, it wouldn’t surprise us if all three interested parties firm up their interest in the New Year.

Balic has [Europa League experience](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/husein-balic/leistungsdaten/spieler/241803) and has stared the current campaign in fine form. He has been involved in seven goals in his 14 appearances this season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/husein-balic/leistungsdaten/spieler/241803)) and has clocked up speeds quicker than [Wolves’ Adama Traore](https://readsouthampton.com/2020/11/09/southampton-keeping-tabs-on-austrian-winger-husein-balic/) over the last 12 months.

The player’s latest comments haven’t ruled out a move in the coming months, but as Balic says, we will have to wait and see.
