# Southampton fans split on Redmond after Chelsea performance

Southampton came away from Stamford Bridge with a point against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints came from behind twice against Frank Lampard’s side, with Jannik Vestergaard heading in a dramatic injury-time equaliser for a share of the spoils.

However, one player who has been talked about by several Saints supporters is Nathan Redmond.

The 26-year-old was handed a [second](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-redmond/leistungsdaten/spieler/129078) Premier League start of the season by Ralph Hasenhuttl and first since the [opening weekend](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-redmond/leistungsdaten/spieler/129078).

Unfortunatley, Redmond failed to repay the trust placed in him by Hasenhuttl and was the worst-rated away player, via [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1485224/Live/England-Premier-League-2020-2021-Chelsea-Southampton).

Redmond, who’s pass success percentage was way down at [58.1%](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/86425/MatchStatistics/Nathan-Redmond), recorded a [6.02](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1485224/Live/England-Premier-League-2020-2021-Chelsea-Southampton) rating and was withdrawn for youngster Nathan Tella with 20 minutes remaining.

[@TheSaintCentre](https://twitter.com/TheSaintCentre) asked their followers for their thoughts on the winger, which left plenty of fans divided.

These Southampton supporters were quick to hit out at the player.

> Twitter: @TheSaintCentre Should be dropped when Armstrong is back. Then we play Walcott with Armstrong and Redmond will sure… https://t.co/bL5LKRnTXs (@olivercooper\_)

> Twitter: @TheSaintCentre Time to sell we have Theo Moussa Tella Armstrong cash in now while his value is high (@Callumbrewer10)

> Twitter: @TheSaintCentre He’s lucky that Walcott is ineligible next weekend as I suspect he’d have been dropped to the bench otherwise (@HarryStokes\_93)

> Twitter: @TheSaintCentre Nowhere near good enough, doesn’t deliver often enough. Runs towards defenders and then stops and d… https://t.co/1CtlpvMki9 (@dettmer93)

Meanwhile, these fans were happy to back the wide man.

> Twitter: @TheSaintCentre A player lacking in confidence but is quality on his day (@lagbo13)

> Twitter: @TheSaintCentre People need to get off his back (@jase1962)

> Twitter: @TheSaintCentre He’s a attacking winger they all go in and out of form even Giggs had poor spells it’s what happens… https://t.co/CSdNS8oykm (@raybird1981)

> Twitter: @TheSaintCentre on his day he’s class, suits our style to a t. doesn’t deserve the hate he gets. (@01\_LZ\_01)
