# Saints fans react as Cologne celebrate ruthless Portsmouth win

Plenty of Southampton fans will be hitting the town tonight after that phenomenal display at Fratton Park, thrashing south coast rivals Portsmouth 4-0 in the Carabao Cup Third Round.

Danny Ings’ first-half brace sent the Saints on their way to a memorable victory, with Cedric Soares and Nathan Redmond pouring salt into the wounds of the lacklustre hosts.

While there was mass celebration on Southampton Twitter following full-time, as you’d expect, there was a pleasant surprise for supporters as German club Cologne got in on the act…

### Read Southampton’s verdict

Despite a lively start to proceedings from Portsmouth being roared on by the jam-packed home crowd, it didn’t take long at all for the Saints to silence them.

It simply looked like a match between a Premier League club and a League One club, with a surprise result never really threatening to be on the cards.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side must now take the momentum from this triumph into the Premier League, with a tough test at Tottenham Hotspur to come on Saturday.
