Southampton have been [heavily linked](https://readsouthampton.com/2019/06/13/wolves-join-southampton-in-pursuit-of-phillips/) with a move for Phillips, along with fellow Premier League clubs Norwich, Bournemouth, Wolves and Aston Villa.

This will now come as a blow for Southampton, with the midfielder seemingly willing to stay in the Championship with his hometown club for another season.

Phillips enjoyed a superb season in the second tier with Leeds in the 2018/19 campaign, as the club finished third in the league and he was named in the Championship Team of the Season.

The 23-year-old has made over 100 first-team appearances for Leeds since coming through the academy set up at the Yorkshire club.
