Hasenhuttl continues to pursue January deals
Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has said that he is keen to bring in some additions this month but conceded his squad is already very large.
According to Sky Sports, the Austrian wants to bolster his squad after the recent departures of Steven Davis to Rangers and Manolo Gabbiadini to Sampdoria.
Saints have been linked with Brentford duo Chris Mepham and Ollie Watkins, but Hasenhuttl refused to comment on any potential moves.
The 51-year-old has brought several young players into the fold at St Mary’s since his arrival, such as Callum Slattery and Kayne Ramsay, which he feels has brought more competitiveness to the squad.
But despite this, he remains keen to bring in fresh faces this month. He said:
We took a few young players into the squad, which I thought was necessary, because it helps us create a new hierarchy and bring in a few young, hungry players in.
Our eyes are open and the transfer market at the moment is a little bit quiet. There were five or so players changing in the Premier League in January.
We will look for one in this transfer market for sure when and what position you will see and we will tell you.
