Wolverhampton Wanderers fended off competition from Southampton as they completed the signing of Dongda He from Notts County, according to claims from the Express and Star.

Wolves completed a deal to sign the promising young midfielder from the League Two side in recent times, with the 17-year-old catching the eye in the club’s youth ranks and in pre-season fixtures this summer.

He joined Wolves for an undisclosed fee and is set to be integrated into the club’s academy setup as he looks to continue his development.

The Chinese youngster is believed to have clear goals of someday playing regular Premier League football and it seems Wolves have been able to provide him with this potential opportunity while pipping Southampton in the process.

He, who was held in high esteem with Notts County, will now look to press on and establish himself as a valuable member of Wolves’ youth academy.
