Southampton’s alleged interest in signing Liverpool striker Danny Ings has been refuted by the Daily Echo today.
The Saints have been heavily linked with a move for the former Burnley striker in recent weeks but these claims have since been rubbished by the Echo, who claim that the reports are ‘wide of the mark’.
Ings is believed to be keen on leaving Liverpool this summer after falling down the pecking order of strikers under manager Jurgen Klopp.

However, it seems at this stage no offers have come in for the striker, who has endured a torrid time in the last two seasons with long-term knee ligament injuries.
Southampton could look to sign a new forward this summer following the loan departure of Guido Carrillo to Leganes. However, it seems the prospect of landing Ings is an unlikely one.
Mark Hughes’ Saints have signed four players already this summer, with the additions of Stuart Armstrong, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Angus Gunn and Jannik Vestergaard already sealed.
Whether or not that will be all for Southampton, however, remains to be seen.
