Southampton have reportedly made an opening offer of £15 million for AS Monaco striker Guido Carrillo.
Saints want to bolster their attacking ranks this month and according to various outlets, they want to bring Argentine striker Carrillo to St Mary’s. In an interesting potential development, though, the Mirror claim that the club have lodged a bid of £15m for the striker.
Mauricio Pellegrino is understood to be a big fan of Carrillo’s, having worked with him in his homeland with Estudiantes, and is keen to recruit him for Saints in the ongoing January transfer window.
Carrillo has not been in the most prolific form this season but has largely been limited to substitute appearances at Monaco, with Radamel Falcao the club’s first choice striker.
The Mirror claim that Saints are willing to offer Carrillo a bumper deal at the club, with a wage ‘in excess’ of £50,000 ready to be given to the 27-year-old this month.
