Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino has revealed that the club chairman Ralph Krueger is ‘watching every single moment’ behind the scenes.
Pellegrino, as quoted by the Daily Echo, previewed Saints’ trip to Fulham in the FA Cup third round this weekend and discussed his relationship with the board at the club.
For me he (Ralph) is great because we used to talk about preparation, motivation, about the challenge we have got in leadership with a group of men in every organisation in our life we all need the same – belief, values. We talk about the team.
For me it’s great. Even Les Reed has been working as a manager. They have been involved in professional teams and they know this world and what we have to do to try to be stronger and this for me is magnificent.
The Saints boss was quick to praise Krueger and revealed that he sat down with the first-team squad to eat during the day, along with vice-chairman Les Reed and head of recruitment Ross Wilson.
For me the club and the board from the first day has been really supportive, but not just right now but from the first day everybody has been really good. Now the chairman is eating with the players, watching every single moment because they want to help. Les Reed and Ross Wilson too.
We work as a unit but results are part of life and when we play a game you have to be ready to lose. If not, don’t play.
Saints have been nothing short of awful this season and are currently situated in a dangerously low position on the Premier League table. Pellegrino’s side are currently in 17th place and find themselves outside of the relegation zone only because of goal difference.
Krueger has recently given the vote of confidence to Pellegrino and appears to be right behind the Saints boss despite the club’s undeniable slump this season.
