Southampton are reportedly among a host of clubs showing an interest in Lille defender Ibrahim Amadou.
According to a report from the Daily Mail today, the Saints are one of a number of Premier League outfits keeping an eye on Amadou, who has impressed for Lille when called upon.
It’s stated in the report that Lille are open to selling Amadou but will not let one of their star defenders go cheaply, with the French side said to be demanding a hefty sum of £16 million for the 24-year-old centre-back. The Daily Mail do state, however, that Lille would be open to an initial loan deal for Amadou.
Saints are in need of a new central defender following the recent sale of Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool and it seems Amadou, who is also a competent holding midfielder, could be a name under consideration.
Although, if Saints are to pursue their apparent interest, they may need to act fast. The report states that Crystal Palace are holding talks with Lille over Amadou, while Stoke City have also expressed an interest.
