Southampton reportedly want to sign AS Monaco striker Stevan Jovetic.
According to a report from the Mirror, the Saints want to bolster their attacking firepower with the Montenegro international, who has found game time hard to come by under Leonardo Jardim at Monaco.
Jovetic has experience of playing in the Premier League, having featured for Manchester City for a short period of time. He has previously been reported to have snubbed a move to Newcastle, with him taking caution over a return to English football.
Southampton have been poor in front of goal once again, following on from their troubles last season.
Jovetic is a player with undoubted technical ability, but one who doesn’t appear to offer a different dimension to Saints’ attack in comparison with Manolo Gabbiadini.
Mauricio Pellegrino’s side are sitting in 13th place on the Premier League table, and have some incredibly tough fixtures coming up.
After the international break, they take the trip to Anfield as they face Liverpool.
Jovetic has started three games in Ligue 1 this season, and has made just two substitute appearances. He has scored one goal, and if the Mirror are to be believed, Southampton are keen for him to revitalise himself on the south coast.
