Experienced Italian manager Alberto Zaccheroni is reportedly keen on landing the Southampton job.
According to an exclusive report from the Daily Star, the veteran coach is ready to make a return to management and has set his sights on the Premier League.
Zaccheroni holds an impressive pedigree, with a lot of success out in Italy being a notable highlight of his career, but he’s been out of work since departing Beijing Guoan in 2016.
The 64-year-old has previously managed clubs such as Udinese and AC Milan, along with leading Japan into the World Cup 2014.
Reliable recent reports have stated that Saints are keen to have their new manager in place within the next ten days. It’s believed that Mauricio Pellegrino and Frank de Boer are the front-runners for the post.
The report from the Daily Star also states that Zaccheroni is keen on the Crystal Palace job, with the Eagles also searching for a new manager.
