Southampton are reportedly admirers of Chelsea youngster Andreas Christensen, and could look to request him coming to St Mary’s in any possible deal for Virgil van Dijk.
According to a report from the Telegraph, the Blues are keen to carry out a defensive overhaul in order to free up space for van Dijk to come in, but to do this they may need to move on some defenders.
It’s stated in the report that Antonio Conte has put Kurt Zouma on the loan list, but Saints are known admirers of Christensen and may look to lure him away from Stamford Bridge.
The Danish international has been superb across the span of two seasons on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga and has attracted a plethora of plaudits for his displays.
However, the Blues are claimed to be more prepared to offer Saints different youngsters in any £50 million deal for van Dijk, with Christensen being highly regarded at the London club.
The report claims that Saints aren’t thought to be one of the clubs interested in Zouma, but they’ll certainly hope that Christensen can make the switch over to St Mary’s.
