Southampton continued their pursuit of European talent in the recent days after their scouts were in attendance for French side Bordeaux’s hard-fought 0-0 draw against fellow Ligue 1 side Nice, as the Saints overlooked potential summer targets.

The report from Get French Football News states that Southampton were not the only Premier League club to take an interest in the clash at the Matmut Atlantique Stadium on Friday evening, as Manchester United and Arsenal were also said to be in attendance. European giants such as Borussia Dortmund and Fiorentina also made the trip to France to scout the talent on show.

Who Southampton were scouting, in particular, remains unclear, however in recent months, they have been linked with Nice defensive midfielder Jean Seri.

The tenacious midfielder has been putting in impressive performances for the Ligue 1 outfit since the start of the season, attracting reported interest from the Saints as they look ahead at potential replacements for the controversial Victor Wanyama, after his ill-disciplined performances for Southampton look to be pushing him ever closer to the exit door.

If the Saints were to be assessing potential summer targets, it’s looking as though Seri was the main focus of their scouting assessment, with a move for the Ivorian international looking as though it could be on the cards.
