# Austin will be a hit – Le Saux

Former Southampton defender Graeme Le Saux has recently [revealed](https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/14217821.Le_Saux__Austin_will_give_Southampton_huge_boost/?ref=rss) that he believes new signing Charlie Austin will be a huge success at Southampton and that the England international will help to boost the morale of the squad.

Austin signed last Saturday on a four-year deal with the club after Saints made a shock £4 million move for the ex-QPR front man, securing their first, and likely to be only, January transfer.

> When he was in the Premier League his goal stats were fantastic and a striker with that eye for a goal can be invaluable.

> Also when you sign a player like that everybody in the dressing room notices and you often get a positive reaction from players because it’s good for morale.

The 26-year-old bagged 18 goals in 35 games in his first ever season at the highest level of English football; an impressive return for a striker in a relegated team.

> It could be one of those signings where you look back and think blimey what an inspired move to get him in. It was quite strange how he couldn’t get a move at the beginning of the season.

It comes as no surprise to see a massive majority of Southampton fans delighted with the club’s decision to pursue their long-standing interest of Austin to fend off other potential suitors, and Le Saux believes that for such a low price, the prolific goal scorer will bring success to the Saints.

> If he turns in half a dozen important goals between now and the end of the season that will seem a tiny price.

Austin is in line to make his Southampton debut as they travel to Old Trafford on Saturday to face Manchester United.
