# Forster enjoys successful comeback

Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster [played](https://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20160106-fraser-forster-post-southampton-1-0-chelsea-under-21-2887700.aspx) his first full match of football since his long-term knee injury he sustained nine months ago, completing a game for Saints’ under-21’s as they superbly defeated Chelsea 1-0 thanks to a Ryan Seager goal.

Forster has not been in action for over three quarters of the year after he was dealt a career-threatening blow through a patella tendon tear in Southampton’s 2-0 victory over Burnley last season.

However, Forster is back in action and is getting valuable game time under his belt, starting with a victory and a clean sheet that has helped Southampton’s young guns progress to the last 16 of the Premier League under-21’s cup.

The England international picked up where he last left off in Martin Hunter’s side’s victory, making an incredible low save with his newly recovered left leg to deny Chelsea into the game.

> I’m buzzing to get 90 minutes under my belt – it’s probably been nine-and-a-half months now. I’m just delighted, just to kind of get through it, and the victory makes it that much better.

The return of Forster is sure to be good news for both club and country, as the towering goalkeeper looks to make his way back into England boss Roy Hodgson’s plans ahead of Euro 2016 in the summer.
