# Forster happy to be back in training

Saints goalkeeper Fraser Forster has [spoken](https://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20151222-fraser-forster-southampton-full-training-return-2865130.aspx) of his delight at returning to Southampton’s full first-team training for the first time since his devastating knee injury sustained in April.

Forster ruptured his left patella tendon in Southampton’s 2-0 victory against Burnley last season, but has made a recovery sooner than first anticipated and is looking to feature for the first time this season in the not-so distant future.

> I’m delighted – obviously a lot of hard work has gone in to get back to this point and I’m thrilled to be out there with the lads. I’m so grateful to the physios and everyone for the work they’ve put in over the last eight months – I’m absolutely buzzing.

However, it is key for Forster and Southampton that his recovery period is not rushed yet. Although it is an excellent sight to see Forster back in full training with the side, small steps must be taken to get the towering ‘keeper in the right physical shape before playing regularly.

The former-Celtic shot-stopper will play for the Saints’ Under-21’s for the foreseeable future and until he is deemed fit enough to be included in Southampton’s first-team side.

> I’ve got to take it day-by-day and see how I get on, I think I’ll play some under-21 football in the New Year and we’ll go from there. But I have to just work as hard as I can with Dave and go from there. We’ve been patient the whole way and done everything correctly.

Forster will be hoping that his early comeback will enable him a sufficient opportunity to force his way back into the England setup with Euro 2016 looming for Roy Hodgson’s men.
