# Our man of the match – Crystal Palace (A)

It was yet another frustrating and bleak afternoon for Southampton as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace thanks to a Yohan Cabaye goal in the first half.

There was no sign of a game-changer in the match as most failed to impress at Selhurst Park, disregarding Oriol Romeu and our man of the match from today; Paulo Gazzaniga.

The Argentinian ‘keeper made only his first appearance for The Saints this season after a toe injury was reportedly sustained by first-choice stopper Maarten Stekelenburg, however Gazzaniga was a more than suitable replacement for the Dutch loanee.

Gazzaniga made three crucial first half saves that helped Southampton to stay in it for the best part of the match, but was given no support whatsoever by his defence for Cabaye’s winning goal.

His performance carried on into the second half as he made a superb low save at his near post to restrict the damage caused by Palace as they eased to victory.

Do you think Gazzaniga should start against Tottenham next weekend?
