# Fonte hoping to spearhead Saints’ change in form

Southampton captain Jose Fonte has [vowed](https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/14133601.Fonte_ready_to_lead_Saints_back_to_form/?ref=rss) to lead his side back into their early-season form, starting with a victory on Saturday against his former club and manager Alan Pardew, at Crystal Palace.

The Saints are currently going through a bad patch in their campaign, with four games without a win and three losses in their last four, but skipper Fonte is eyeing an improvement in their next match.

> First of all we have to work hard and work hard for each-other and our quality will take care of the rest.

Fonte was annoyed at how he was kept out of Saints’ 6-1 pasting from Liverpool in the Capital One Cup a fortnight ago, but has spoke of how his knee injury was not one that would keep him out for a while due to his passion and love of playing for the side.

> The fact that I was on the pitch (against Villa) after I couldn’t run on Wednesday and on Thursday I struggled to run at more than 50 per cent , it tells you how I take it.

Southampton will be looking to better their previous performances at Selhurst Park on Saturday as they hope to climb out of the bottom half.
