# Southampton interested in Fiorentina midfielder

Southampton have [reportedly](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/11/30/report-southampton-ready-to-battle-manchester-united-for-borja-v/?) taken an interest in experienced Fiorentina midfielder Borja Valero as Ronald Koeman may look to strengthen his options ahead of a late season push for European football.

The Spanish medio-centro styled midfielder has attracted interest from Manchester United also after he has become a pivotal figure in Fiorentina’s recent success in the last couple of seasons. However, Valero may be looking for another route as he nears the end of his career; a route that could possibly lead him to Southampton.

Valero is, however, no stranger to the Premier League as he was an ever-present figure for West Brom in 2008 as they got relegated. It was not a season to remember for Valero as he failed to adapt to the league and struggled to make an impact on his West Brom side.

It should not put off Valero from the English game, however, as with seven more years of experience at a high level and featuring for clubs of such European prestige like Fiorentina, the Spanish midfielder could be a smart move for The Saints.

Would Valero be a good signing for you?
