Southampton midfielder Steven Davis has spoken about the need to get back to the sides’ high standards that they set before the Stoke game, against Manchester City.
Davis was part of the Saints side that lost 1-0 to Stoke last week; a game that ended Southampton’s eight game unbeaten run in all competitions. However, one record that Southampton still hold is their unbeaten away record. They are yet to lose away from home this season.
This record is in danger of coming unstuck this weekend at The Etihad given Manchester City’s seemingly limitless quality. Saints will have to deal with players such as Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Raheem Sterling.

Despite this, Saints do have a chance after injuries to Vincent Kompany and Joe Hart have left Manchester City’s defence a little thin. Davis has said that Southampton still have the confidence that they had before the defeat to Stoke and can get a result tomorrow:
There’s a lot of belief from that run we went on before the Stoke game.
As much as we’re disappointed, we know we can get to a better level than what we showed. It’s about getting back to that again and hopefully we can do that.
Training has been intense this week – we obviously want to get back to winning ways. We know it’s going to be a difficult game, but we will go there and try and stamp our authority on it.
We didn’t hit the levels which we expect and which we have done over the past few weeks against Stoke, so we’re disappointed in that respect.
It’s about getting back to those standards and hopefully we can do that against Manchester City.
