# Saints still tracking Wanyama replacement

Ronald Koeman [reportedly](https://www.clubcall.com/southampton/koemans-scout-in-portugal-on-midfielder-watch-1790012.html?) sent scouts to watch Porto as he is still tracking Giannelli Imbula.

The French central midfielder was a summer target of Southampton’s but ended up joining the Portuguese side for £16m. End of the story right? Apparently not. Imbula has failed to settle down in Portugal and may look to move on next summer; Southampton being a possible destination.

With Victor Wanyama looking increasingly likely to leave the club next season, Koeman is already weighing up his options as to who could replace the Kenyan in the Saints midfield.

Imbula is a strong, dependable midfielder and could be the perfect man to take on from Wanyama, if he was to leave the club next year. Wanyama was heavily linked with a move to Spurs over the summer and they could come in for him again in the next window.

Do you think Imbula would be a good replacement for Wanyama?
