# No January move for star player Mane

Southampton are doing all that they can to keep star player Sadio Mane at the club until at least next summer, according to[reports](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3332313/Southampton-determined-Sadio-Mane-Manchester-United-eye-January-Senegalese-striker.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490).

It has been clear to see that Mane’s services are sought after to say the very least after a string of excellent performances for The Saints so far this season, but the south-coast club will look to resist the sale of the 24-year-old in January.

Manchester United were looking to acquire Mane for a hefty fee of £20 million last summer, as they looked to take advantage of Southampton’s tendency to sell when faced with big money, however The Saints stood strong in their attempts to keep hold of Mane.

The Senegalese forward has been at the centre of reports that Ronald Koeman wants to extend his contract at the club, further on from 2018, however it is down to whether Mane will want European football and trophies with perhaps a bigger club.

However, the price for Mane will not be cheap. Southampton have reportedly slapped a whopping £40 million price tag on their prize asset’s head; a fee that will burn a hole in any club’s pocket.

It is highly unlikely that Manchester United will be willing to pay a fee as high as this mid-way through the season, so it is looking likely that Mane will be part of The Saints’ squad for the remainder of the season, at least.
