# Rodriguez to be out for eight weeks

Another hefty spell out of action is in the offing for [Southampton](https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/14097239.Eight_weeks_out_for_Jay_Rodriguez/?ref=rss) striker Jay Rodriguez as he is expected to be out for up to eight weeks with a foot injury.

The 26-year-old is set to undergo foot surgery on Tuesday after picking up a long-term injury in a training session, not so long after making a full recovery from a knee ligament injury that kept him out for 19 months.

Rodriguez has not yet scored his first Premier League goal of the campaign since his return from injury due to mainly making cameo appearances. It is sad to see the Englishman sidelined yet again after such a long spell out as he prepares to go under the knife yet again.

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman had this to say about Rodriguez’s condition last week:

> It is difficult for the player but for everybody because he is total back and no problems and now it is a different injury. It takes the boy down mentally and it is difficult because all we can do is give total support to the player.

Where do you see Jay Rodriguez fitting in when he returns from injury?
