# Long – We’re doing well

Southampton forward Shane Long is [refusing](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/southampton/news/shane-long-not-worried-about-defeat_258804.html#$$ny9h7k&&Po585pHFEeWNdRJeOQGl9w$$) to look at the negatives from the defeat to Stoke at the weekend and rather focus on the season so far, which he says has been good.

Saints lost 1-0 to Stoke courtesy of a 10th minute Bojan goal and Shane Long started his first game for Southampton in over a month following a knee injury he picked up playing for Ireland on international duty last month.

The Republic Of Ireland international came into the side in place of Sadio Mane, who was carrying a slight knock, but was unable to stamp his mark on proceedings as Southampton looked dreary going forwards at times.

However, despite loosing, there are still plenty of positives for Southampton this season. The defeat was their first loss in their last nine games in all competitions and are still unbeaten away from home in the Premier League this season.

Speaking after the game, Long said this:

> There’s going to be good weeks, there’s going to be bad weeks and, if you look at the season as a whole, we’re doing well.

> People always look at your last result and it’s frustrating. It’s just disappointing. You win some, you lose some.
