Clasie wants to continue unbeaten run

Southampton holding midfielder Jordy Clasie has spoken about his eagerness to help the Saints to continue their unbeaten run today when they face Stoke City at St.Mary’s.

Clasie has virtually established himself now in Koeman’s starting line-up since making his Premier League debut against Leicester last month. He signed in the summer from Feyenoord but went off injured on his Europa League debut and was injured for the first few months of the season.

However, since he returned against Leicester, he has settled down in the Saints side and is starting to show signs of the early promise he held. Clasie is expected to start alongside Victor Wanyama in holding midfield today and will be key if Saints are to continue their unbeaten run.

Koeman’s men are currently on a hot trail of form; eight games unbeaten in all competitions. Yet, they will have to be on top of that form to beat Stoke who have conceded just five in their last six away matches.

Here is what Clasie said about wanting to continue their run:

We have to pick up [where we left off].

The games and how we played before the international break was good.

The last three games before the international break we got seven points. In two away games, four points.

We are doing well and have to keep the confidence. We need to believe in our quality for Saturday.
