# Possible surgery for Jay Rodriguez

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has [given](https://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20151119-koeman-southampton-stoke-rodriguez-injury-2808069.aspx) an update on Jay Rodriguez in his pre-match press conference and it is not looking good for the English forward.

Koeman has said that he may even have to go into surgery next week on a foot injury that he seen him ruled out since Southampton’s clash against Leicester, when he featured as a late sub.

Over a month on and he is yet to return to the Saints side and it is looking likely that it could even more months before he does so. If he is to have surgery on his foot then it is possible that Rodriguez could be ruled out for a long period of time.

Rodriguez has had some unfortunate injuries during his career, his torn ACL injury against Manchester City in 2014 ruled him out for 18 months and missed the whole of last season.

He came back at the start of this season and did score twice in a 6-0 win over MK Dons in the Capital One Cup earlier this year. Yet, he has not scored in the Premier League this season and could be a long time before he gets another chance to.

Here is what Koeman said when speaking about Rodriguez.

> Jay is not good, it’s now a long time and we have to make now a really tough decision how we have to do the treatment.

> Maybe it will be a surgery next week. Still his feet is a problem, it gives a lot of pain. We did everything and now, the final call, maybe it will be surgery next week.

> We have to wait and first make that tough decision and then of course we will know something more about how long he will be out.
