# Southampton demolish Ajax in closed-doors friendly

Southampton came out on top in their second closed-doors friendly against Dutch champions Ajax in a comprehensive 4-0 victory.

As several members of the Southampton and of course Ajax squad are currently undertaking their international duty, the remaining players at the respective clubs were faced with each other in a friendly.

For The Saints, first team squad members such as Steven Caulker, Harrison Reed, Oriol Romeu, Cuco Martina and Juanmi all started.

Promising young midfielder Armani Little gave Southampton a first-half advantage with a superb curling free-kick, 20 yards from goal. The Saints’ lead was extended as Ryan Seager fired a ball across the six-yard box for Juanmi to slide in and convert from close range to make the scoring 2-0.

Southampton displayed a certain ruthlessness and clinicality in the friendly, as they made it three goals to the good shortly after doubling their advantage, courtesy of a Cuco Martina header at the back post. Ronald Koeman’s men were not done there, however, as they made it 4-0 just before half time with a well controlled volley from Jake Hesketh.

4-0 was to be the final score at Staplewood as Southampton’s fringe players and youth players gained some valuable playing time in a comprehensive victory.
