Southampton midfielder Steven Davis has spoken out about his excitement in the build-up to Northern Ireland’s game at Windsor Park tonight, their home stadium.
The Northern Irish international was a crucial part of their incredible qualifying campaign. He was an integral part of the squad as they secured their European Championship place next summer in some fashion, topping the group and impressing a lot of on looking supporters.
As captain of the national side, it means more to Davis than most and he has spoken about how electric the atmosphere will be tonight when they play at home for the first time since they booked their place in France next summer.

They qualified by beating Greece 3-1. with two goals coming from the man himself, Davis. He has been in good goalscoring form for his club side Southampton as well (compared to his normal goalscoring talents) as he has netted twice this season, against Chelsea and Bournemouth.
When asked if he was looking forward to the game, Davis said this:
It goes without saying, I am looking forward to the game again.
It’s a great place to play and great memories from the last time we were here. I’m looking forward to sampling the atmosphere once again.
We obviously want to just keep momentum going, keeping the belief going,” he added.
Obviously some players are gaining a little bit more experience but it’s about keeping the winning habit going and keep reaching the high standards we have set.
That’s the mentality of the players heading into these games.
