Southampton defender Maya Yoshida scored today for Japan whilst on international duty with his country.
The 26-year-old scored in a 3-0 win for Japan against Singapore to continue his Countries unbeaten start to 2018 FIFA World Cup/2019 Asian Cup qualifying.
Yoshida is not known by Southampton fans for his goalscoring ability, as he hasn’t scored many. However, he did score a superb goal against Aston Villa in the Capital One Cup last month for the Saints. He drove home a low left-footed effort from over 20 yards past the despairing dive of Brad Guzan.

He scored the third goal for Japan, firing the ball home to secure the win, comprehensively I might add. Japan travel to Cambodia for their next qualifier at the Olympic Stadium next Tuesday and Maya Yoshida will be hoping he can continue his goalscoring for, however unlikely that may be.
