Saints trio feature in England under-21 match

Southampton trio Jack Stephens, James Ward-Prowse and Matt Targett all featured in England under-21’s 0-0 draw against Bosnia earlier today.

James Ward-Prowse, who is their captain, and Matt Targett both played the full 90 minutes in the fairly dull affair. However, Jack Stephens was not as fortunate as he was dismissed in the second half after being shown two yellow cards in quick succession.

Stephens is currently out on loan at Middlesbrough and was making his full debut for the England side; couldn’t have gone much worse for him. James Ward-Prowse may even have been slightly disappointed that he was playing due to his eagerness to step up to the England senior side, who play Spain tomorrow evening.

Although he was only recently made under-21 captain and Gareth Southgate will want to keep the Saints man in the side until he is completely read for Roy Hodgson’s call.

Is Ward-Prowse good enough for the senior side?
